About Chicken Hash Soup

Chicken hash soup is a hearty and comforting soup believed to have originated in the United States. The dish has roots in the hash tradition, which uses leftover meat and vegetables to create a new word. Here is a brief history of chicken hash soup:

The term “hash” originated in the 17th century and originally referred to a dish made of diced meat, potatoes, and onions fried together. This was a popular way to use leftover meat, as it was an easy and economical way to create a new meal. In the early 20th century, hash became a staple in diners and restaurants, often served as a breakfast dish.

Chicken hash soup is believed to have originated in the United States and has its roots in the hash tradition. The dish typically consists of shredded or diced chicken, potatoes, onions, and other vegetables, all cooked together in a flavorful broth. The ingredients are often seasoned with herbs and spices to enhance the dish’s flavor.

One theory about the origins of chicken hash soup is that it was a way to use leftover chicken from Sunday dinners. The dish was typically made on Monday when cooks used any leftover meat and vegetables to create a new word. The soup was often served as a simple and comforting meal that could feed a large family.

Over time, chicken hash soup has become a popular comfort food in the United States. The dish is often associated with the South, where it is a staple in many homes and restaurants. There are many species of the word, with some recipes calling for adding cream to create rich and creamy soup.

Today, chicken hash soup remains a popular dish that many people enjoy. It is a comforting and flavorful soup that is good for cold winter days or any time you are in the mood for a hearty and filling meal.

Unique Aspects

The chicken hash soup recipe originates in Andalusian cuisine, especially Seville and Almería. The main ingredient is always minced poultry, often accompanied by boiled egg and sometimes rice.

There are things that are as comforting on cold days as a good soup; if it also incorporates meat and other ingredients that make it more succulent, the effect is unbeatable. The chicken soup we will prepare is also straightforward and cheap, a fantastic way to have a first course for lunch during the winter months and, why not, for dinner.

Usually, it is prepared with the egg well chopped, but at home, we like to find the pieces very large, so we have chosen to leave them sliced; if you prefer to follow the traditional recipe, you can change that part and break the eggs well so that they are hardly noticeable and, at the same time, add some consistency to the soup. Finally, you can always add croutons or breadcrumbs to make it even thicker if you want to give it a crunchy touch.

A guaranteed success for a warm dinner, one of my favorites with Castilian soup, onion soup, or julienne soup. One more option for your weekly menu; cheer up with it.

Ingredients

  • 1 Half Chicken

  • 2 Eggs (Hard Boiled)

  • 4 Whole Carrots

  • 1 Leek

  • 1 Salted Bone

  • 1/2 Pound of Serrano Ham

  • 8 oz Ramen Noodles

  • Fresh Mint Leaves

Directions

  • Peel and wash the carrot, do the same with the leek, and cut it into two large pieces. Put everything in a pot together with the chicken and the salted bone.
  • Add water until everything is covered completely, and cook on medium-low heat for an hour.
  • When the chicken and vegetables are done cooking, strain and reserve the broth. Let the chicken and the bone cool down, and then debone everything.
  • Chop the ham (if we have yet to buy it in strips) and the mint leaves. Peel and cut the egg into small pieces or slices to your liking
  • Add the broth, meat, eggs and mint back to the pot and set over medium for 15 min or until all the flavors have blended well together.
  • Add the noodles and cook until package directions.
  • Serve in Bowls, adding the broth first then add the noodles. Add the meat and the eggs last. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can save the broth in these Freezer Safe Containers for up to 6 months.
  • This traditional soup is perfect for your weekly menu or a special occasion.
  • You can use an Instant Pot to speed up the cooking process. If you are going to use an instant pot cook everything together for 20 min instead of an hour.
  • The flavor will not cease to amaze you. That slightly sweet and fresh touch of mint combined with the intensity of the broth will warm you up immediately.
